Having an accessible web site is no longer an option – it is a necessity!
Web sites that offer goods and services to the public must comply with the
Disability Discrimination Act. The relevant parts of the DDA have been in
force since October 1999. The related Code of Practice was published by the
DRC in May 2002.

How does having an accessible website benefit my business?
Ensuring that your website is accessible to the widest possible audience should have a positive impact on your business.
Your business should……
- MAKE MORE MONEY – your customers will be able to access your products and services. There are 10 million disabled people in the UK with a discretionary income of approx £50 billion per year
- SAVE MONEY - a site that is organised and coded to be accessible is likely
to be easier to maintain
AND…… - YOUR SITE SHOULD BE FOUND EASIER - via search engines such as Google. Web site content that is clearly structured is also easier for search engines to index correctly. This will make it easier for your customers to find your site.
You will also benefit from making your site compatible to new technologies, for example, internet access via mobile phones, PDA’s.
